We don't recommend places lightly. There are enough average cellar doors in the High Country that the good ones deserve to be talked about loudly and often. Eldorado Road is one of the good ones.
It sits just outside Beechworth in a beautifully converted property — the kind of place that feels like it's always been there. Five-star Halliday rating, free tastings, and a courtyard that is genuinely one of the nicest places to sit in the region on a warm afternoon.
What to drink
The Nero is our personal go-to — it has that distinctly North East structure we love, with enough fruit to remind you you're still in Australia. The Chardonnay is excellent. The Rosé is the kind you drink more of than you intended.
The cantina
The food is good and unpretentious. Share plates, local produce, the kind of menu that works with wine without trying too hard. Go hungry.
Getting there
It's about five minutes from the Beechworth town centre on the Yackandandah Road. eldoradoroad.com.au for bookings and cellar door hours. If you're visiting us at the distillery, make a day of it.
